UKG & the freebie (an ode to the cheapskates)

UK Garage has always been a generous genre. As far back as 2003, Jeremy Sylvester was offering up some of his Club Asylum material for free download from mp3.com; with Nu Skool pioneers like Duncan Powell & Robbie T (later Phonetix) continuing with similar generosity in the years that followed. Even the legendary Todd Edwards weighed in by making WAV downloads of most of his back-catalogue available via his SoundCloud profile for a limited period.

In recent times, whilst artists still show what nice folks they are with the odd bootleg here-&-there; it has become commonplace for established labels to present free downloads on their behalf - offering them up via their sites or social media profiles (usually behind gates which require an e-mail address or follow). If you're a fan of NUKG, it's likely you're already familiar with Garage Shared's series of downloads.

But let's have a look at some of the wicked NUKG freebies other labels are currently offering up, in case you missed 'em: -

Duncan Powell - Nothing Like This ('23 Vocal Mix) [Riddler Records]

+44749 - Beatz and Bassline [Strictly House and Garage]

Bushbaby - No Good Bootleg [Southpoint]

Albzzy - Creepin' ft. PVC (gleam Remix) [About Last Night Records]

TC4 - Angel [TC4]

Brandy - I Wanna Be Down (Mikey B Bootleg) [Deeprot]

Kiana Ledé - Show Love (Phonetix Mix) [Riddler Records]
