The second artist release listed for Korean producer Lee A Hyun (p.k.a. Whyahyun) is a feature on the latest Crissy doll house EP release ('Space Arp').
'Be My Luv' is a sublime slice of contemporary Garage House built around Lee's slick piano skills. A vintage 90s-style chord riff forms the basis for the track; around which jazz marimbas ring out - with wah-twinged g-funk synths, a suitably funky bassline & sparse vocal cuts rounding out proceedings perfectly. The whole thing is polished via the display of a clear aptitude for high-level engineering, in a way rarely heard c/o an artist with such a small catalogue.
Needless to say, we can't wait to hear more from Whyahyun - clearly a very skilled musician, who is obviously one to watch going forward.
If the Housier side of Garage isn't your thing, maybe give last year's 'Mute Wow' a listen instead. It sits comfortably on our Jazz Step playlist & is another great example of Whyahuyn's high-level skills!
