Introducing Maroon Golf

With London traditionally viewed as the "home" of UK Garage (perhaps arguably superceded in recent times by Bristol), it can be surprising to hear exceptional examples of it being produced thousands of miles away. In recent years the likes of NUKG 24/7 faves Hans Glader and Shunji Fujii have achieved this very feat, and more recently music by the likes of Clearcast, Juggan and Luke Petruzzi have certainly piqued our interest with their creative sounds.

Enter Union City native Leo Asberry III, pka Maroon Golf. Having previously forged a following for himself in the House arena, Leo has turned his hand to this very British sound under a fresh moniker inspired by one of his favourite vehicles (presumably a classic Mk2?).

With debut release 'Hypnotized', he's utilized some snippets of a cover vocal from a veritable Soul classic in a super creative fashion - to fit Strange Times' forward-thinking motif with a choppy, experimental, bass-heavy stepper. And at NUKG 24/7 HQ, we are fully here for it!

Maroon Golf follows up with subsequent releases in January and February on Nine2 Recordings and our very own NUKG 24/7 respectively. Until then, if you like what you're hearing - support it here.
