With an extensive discography already attributed to his name and a dedicated following of believers already hanging on his next move, titling this post 'Introducing Iskia' seems borderline disrespectful. But it's probably fair to say you're more like to be familiar with Manchester's Joe Little if you watch what's going on in Drum & Bass, as that's where he's really built his name in recent years.
However although he's perhaps best known for his work with MC Inja at 175bpm, if you go back five or six years and listen to his earlier releases you'll hear that Iskia has always been about mixing things up - with a handful of downtempo and UKG-twinged releases to his name.
And we're pleased to note he's been dabbling outside of D&B over the last six months, especially because that experimentation has resulted in the absolutely blistering 'Who's Jazz?' - which is scheduled to drop c/o Strictly Flava on 15th November. We can't comment on whether it's a conscious attempt to build on what the likes of Phonetix and Shunji Fujii have been doing to fuse UK Garage with more Jazz influences in recent years, or simply that a shared interest in musicality have resulted in Iskia arriving at the same point... but we know that we love the result - a smooth and soulful horn-laiden 4x4 roller with funky bassline and nostalgic Jazz references througout.
Preview and order Iskia's 'Who's Jazz?' right now here, and drop the man a follow whilst you're at it!
