Hot off the back of recent releases with New State Music ('Pretty Green Eyes') and Ed Case's Killer Instinct ('The Bass Pusher EP'), Green Deep has returned c/o BWK Project's Nine2 Recordings with another silky slice of vocal 2 Step, featuring the vocal talents of Oney.
From the outset the track lays the foundations for a laidback & soulful voyage, kicking off with lush rhodes set over filtered skippy beats as Oney's "when I first play all I hear is you" hook rings out over the top. As it drops the bassline kicks in, flitting between a dark hoover and M1 organ, before an intensely catchy muted guitar riff worms its way into your ear - forever more stuck in your brain!
Without meaning to overhype proceedings, we feel confident this one would have been top 10 material back in UKG's heyday. Be that as it may, it definitely commands a listen (at the very least). It's a testament to Green Deep's high level skillset, which is certainly on display so far this summer and looks set to continue - with releases lined up on NUKG 24/7's own Downplay and Riddler Records respectively in the coming weeks.
