Historically, leading figures within UK Garage declared it was a London thing. These days people are ready to acknowledge it's a worldwide phenomena, with a strong base of artists (& fans alike) as far afield as LA, Tokyo, Sydney, St Petersburg, Macau, Munich & Toronto.
As far as the UK is concerned, a large proportion of DJs & producers are based in the bustling city of Bristol. But the Midlands certainly has its share of skilled professionals as well - perhaps none moreso than Wolves' Baker.
We've been big fans of Baker since chancing upon 'Someone 2 Hold' on one of Spotify's editorial playlists in 2021, & he's continued to impress ever since - with a steady stream of single releases on his own Big Boy Beatz imprint; also popping up on Riddler Records, Strange Times, Nine2 Recordings, Step2 & You Know! Additionally, he dropped an LP, 'Endless Work In Progress' in early 2023 - which is essential listening if you didn't check it out already.
We're pleased to report that today sees Baker's second single release of 2024, returning to what we think he does best - vintage, musical, full-vocal 2 Step. & it's a vibe. If you didn't already, go check out 'Breathe Deep' at once! You won't be disappointed.
